There are two main Characters in the book. Madec and Ben.
Madec is a very good Los Angeles lawyer. He gets a once in a life time opportunity when he gets the permit to shoot the bighorn sheep. He is a professional shooter and wishes to use the head of the bighorn and decorate his house. .It all started out when Madec hired Ben because of his field in working in the desert. When Madec saw a white figure through his ten-power scope on his .358 caliber Winchester Magnum, he fired saying he saw horns on it. When they walked up there, Madec confessed that he did not see horns but really he shot down an old man (prospector), Madec was mad that Ben had found out what had happened, and said they should burry the man and never talk about him again. But, good ol' honest Ben wasn't about to make a mistake; he wanted to report the accident to the sheriff. So he went down to go get the jeep, and on his way back up, he heard 2 gunshots. When he got up there, he asked what Madec was doing with the gun and Madec said he was seeing..., then he becomes the most evil guy ever. He gives Ben two options, first, keep his mouth shut and not say anything or Madec walk ben 45 miles through open desert with him watching his every step. I believe Madec becomes mean and greedy as he does not even give the old man a proper burial and hides him..

As the story progress this two characters goes in to deep situation, big enough to go to the court and they find out who is telling the truth and who is not. As i explain above Medec is a good lawyer. so ben didn't a lawyer and it's was hard for him to prove his point across.

But that didn't stop Ben. He provided an evidence from the dessert and won the case. For Medec bad happy ending. He got sentenced for man slaughter went to prison.

SYMBOL:

The most important symbol is the bighorn. because Ben and Madec planed to kill bighorn, instead Madec shot an old man in the head. Ben was not to happy about the situation, so he told Medec that the honest way is to report the accidental shot. Medec tries to reason with Ben, but Ben is too stubborn. They had a big fight about it. Then Medec gave Ben two choice, one his going to shoot him or he has to walk with out cloth in the dessert. They get to this point because of the bighorn. If there is no bighorn around that spot they wouldn't have this problem.
